okay, here's my transmission problem.
Tranny rebuilt by AAMCO, they also added a trans cooler and a B&M shift kit at my request. This was 2 years ago.
Everything is fine for roughly the first 20 minutes of normal surface street driving. Good acceleration, chirps the tires in second when I get on it {every stop light} But any thing longer than that and my Transmission starts to seem sluggish and shift extremly hard. I am no transmission expert, but I'll try my best to explain the symtoms.
First major noticable problem is the extremly hard shifts. It seems like it hangs in gear before it shifts and when it does shift it is extremly hard. Not a normal, firm shift but a hard jarring one.
It also seems like the transmission at low speeds takes awhile to get up to speed when shifting gears.
example: going from a stoplight making a right turn onto the freeway onramp. light turns green. I start to make the turn, the rpms seem low and it you can hear the transmission trying to pick up speed. Once the turbo kicks in, and I am at highway speed everything seems fine again.
example 2: leaving freeway slowing down to merge into surface street traffic. Everything is fine until I slow down for traffic, light, etc. As I slow down, the transmission downshifts are extremly hard and jerky. Also at surface street speeds (0 - 30mph) the shifts both up and down are jerky. It'll shift hard the car will shudder a second , then smooth out. Then I park it for the night and in the morning everything is fine. I only work 3 miles from my apartment so I haven't really had to go beyond the first 20 minutes when everything is fine.
I am getting Bruces Killer street tranny but I am getting worried about driving my car up that far to his shop(500 miles). What do you think???
also,
Bruce,
I believe you are the only one using billet internals for the 200r4 tranny right? I was wondering if there were any shops closer to my local that you would recommend installing your killer street tranny??
Also, could yopu give me a rough idea of how much it cost to ship a tranny from san diego to you??
Also, I forgot to ask you when I called you a few weeks ago, for your killer street transmissions, is it a one for one exchange (my crappy 200r4 for one high speed, low drag killer street tranny)?? Or do you rebuild my 200r4 I send to you to your killer street specs and send me my tranny rebuilt???
Thanks In advance
Lorenzo
