Alright, all I did was change the plugs, fuel filter and the oil. For some reason when I started the car I had a pretty good backfire. Blew a few vacuum lines off.
I have since checked the wires and the plugs, all good. Made sure that all of the vac lines were back to where they are supposed to be. Made sure that the right wire was going to the right plug. After all of that the the car won't run now. It will idle very rough for 10 to 20 sec then backfire and die.
Then I noticed that the pvc valve seemed a little to lose. Pulled on the hose and it came right out. Who ever owned the car before had cut the rubber grommet down and smeared silicone all over it to make it seal. I guess the backfiring broke it lose, (was completely soaked in gas).
So I bought a new valve and grommet. And after about an hour of trying to get it in, I now understand why the previous owner cut the rubber and used silicone to seal it. Could they have possibly found a harder spot to put it in. I just can not get my hand back there. The only thing that I can think to do is remove the throttlebody to clear up space. And I have small hands.
So is there an easier way to change the valve and gromet. And would I be correct in assuming that with the pvc valve just dangling at the end of the vac line make my car behave the way that it is.
