Spent a few hours last night researching exhaust systems. Pretty much settled on the 3" THDP with integral test pipe and dump.

I thought about going the ATR 3" dual route, but so many people speak so highly of the Hooker system that it sound's like it cannot be beat for the price. Anyways, I have a part number of 16810, but it lists the system with two Super Competition turbo mufflers. Everyone says they got theirs with Aerochambers. Can anyone offer any insight into the differences between these two mufflers? They appear to flow similarly in their catalog. Thanks in advance for the help.

The aerochamber is the only muffler available now. The super comp was the old muff and they sucked. Ive had 2 kits so far and swapped in between mufflers several times.I personally like the max flow better. But its a great exhaust for the $$$$

Hmmm...I'm sure it was a 2002 Hooker catalog I was reading. Said the cat back systems use Aerochamber mufflers in the general discussion on them, but then had a footnote indicating that the turbo Buick system uses the Super Competition turbo mufflers. I flipped back to the mufflers and sure enough both are listed as separate entities. Now I am really confused.

Well actually compared to the ATR 3" SS it's alot heavier and doesn't flow as well IME :-) A little quieter though ;)

Anyone else? I'm hoping to order an exhaust system by the end of the week. Thanks.

I would just order the hooker with the aerochambers. Thats what I have and its a great system. Im sure u can swap the other muffs for the aerochambers. Try summit or jegs. I think they already come with the aerochambers

I just installed a Hooker cat back 2 weeks ago on mine. My first Hooker system with super comp mufflers lasted 7 years of hard driving and I'm near the ocean(salt air) The new systems come with aerochamber mufflers. Very easy installation and the sound is a little less then the super comps. I found that Summit had the best price/shipping deal. Box is 75lbs.

I have the hooker and like it a lot. Everybody says it will rust compared to the ATR stuff. Mine looks exactly like it did when I put it on 4 years ago even when subjected to the salt air down here. I will say that the hanger that attaches it to the frame behind the wheels is a different metal and it did rust. Sand it and paint it, and it will last a long time.

oh, its also very easy to install. I did mine on my back with a set of rhino ramps. It went right together.

I put my Hooker exhaust on about a year ago. I ordered it from Jeg's and it came with the Aerochamber mufflers.

I've been very happy with it....good rumble at idle....and just enough noise at highway speeds without being annoying.

Easy install....no problems. I bolted it up then drove down to the local muffler shop to have them weld it together.
