Quarter window adhesive question

I had my GN painted a few months back and I'm noticing whatever the body shop used to hold the rear quarter windows in is oozing out and leaving horrible streaks down the side of the car beneath the windows. I'm gonna have him take them out and redo it but he said the only other option would be a pain in the future because whatever the other option is would involve breaking the windows if for whatever reason they had to come out in the future. Does anyone know what is supposed to be used to hold them in?

They are easy to remove and install yourself. I used this:

Amazon.com: 3M (MMM8612) RIBBON SEAL GLASS KIT 3/8": Home Improvement

Just make sure you circle the screw holes and when you bolt them in you don't over tighten.

I didn't use anything when I put them back in. Granted, my car is garage kept, but I don't believe all that goop is necessary. Something much more minimal will work just fine.

I used the same stuff for windshields. urethane sealer with caulking gun.

A buddy of mine that works for a glass shop used this on my quarter windows too...no problems.

I prefer the 3M 8612 ribbon sealer
