I have a manual fan switch that applies a ground to the green wire with yellow stripe on the fan timer relay as described on GNTTYPE.org and I have a question about it. Should this turn on on the fan anytime the relay has power? Mine works only if you turn the key forward, flip the switch, then turn to the key to the off postion. Is that the way it is susposed to work? If that is correct, how should I wire so that I can force the fan while driving? Thanks Steve

The triggers are the same wire for the high speed relay and the delay relay.

When the car is running the switch should command the high speed fan operation when the switch is ON and grounding that wire.

I would check and repair/replace the high speed fan relay or wiring.

I have mine wired like this and it comes on whenever the key is on and the switch is activated. I don't have to turn the key back off fot it to come on..

Steve, the chip has a shut off for the fan based on MPH &/or tps reading. Speed is usually from 45-60 mph & tps is 60-80%. They can be changed by your chip maker.

Gary

High speed fan operation is done by the coolant sensor or the A/C operation psi. switch.

Try the A/C and see if the fan runs fast.

The trigger wire you mention should command high speed fan operation whilst driving and in the delay relay mode after shutdown.
