I know this is not a Buick, but there are some very smart guys here that I think may be able to help. My friend has a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3 liter. Here are the symptons. He can get in the van, start it, drive for 100 yards or so then no more pulling. Then he can put it in park, turn off the engine, restart it and drive for another 100 yards. The dealer said he needed a new transmission. I think it is something electrical. What do you guys think?

How many miles? Is the trans fluid nice and pink or black/dark and burned smelling? My uncle has had a few of those and the trans has been known to go south in his.

Vader I edited your title to fit here, in the lounge so your thread would not end up in the Buick tranny section,

Odds are good that it is toast. An electrical problem that is causing it to fall out of gear entirely would be extremely rare on that model. If you are in doubt, take it to a local trans shop and have them look at it. If they have been there long they are very familiar with that trans. Hard to diagnose it via keyboard but i'd bet it's dead.
