question about coolant

I just recently bought a 1987 buick t-type with a lot of great mods. i opened the radiator on the car adn i couldnt see anything do i add some coolent or water or is it all just in the intercooler? someone please tell me what to do because i dont want to blow up my car I love it to much.

Since I don't know where you live, you would be safe to put a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and distilled water blend in it. This could be why it is running between 200 - 220 degrees too!

please put it all in the radiator........your intercooler is air to air, no fluids in there (I hope...)

If you want it to run cooler, forget about "coolant". Use water and RMI, but if it is that hot, probable need more done.

The so-called "coolant", which is what antifreeze is called by the marketing people, runs much hotter than just water. It also is responsible for the deposits that plug up your cooling system. Since it is not good to run just water, an additive is required.

When and if you need freeze protection, then use antifreeze, and only then.
