I've heard of people doing this so the car cant build boost. What would happen if someone went WOT with it disconnected? How does the computer react? Is it still possible to hurt something? How does what happens to it differ in speed density vs MAF?

Pop the wastegate rod off the puck arm. Car will be a total dog except part throttle.

first if you are talking a maf car setup to run a maf, you will usually never be able to get above idle

Wont hurt the car but will really make it non driveable.

If you really want something to work if using a stock style actuator just disconnect the actuator from the pipe puck arm

car will never make any boost not throw a SES and pretty much just drive as an NA car.

Now if you are talk a speed density setup then still wont hurt the car, it will run as if NA depending on how the VE tables are configured.

Not to mention that that is a lot of work for a valet mode.

If using a maf just disconnect it, it will throw a code but car will run like crap.

if speed density you could just remove the chip or flash your PCM with a no boost no timing tune

Funny this thread came up today. Just had to drop my car off for an alignment after a front end rebuild and being paranoid about joyriders I simply disconnected the wastegate arm. Figured it was the easiest way to keep the car driveable but not allow any boost.

Not to hijack....but those of you who say you disconnect the wastegate actuator rod....do you also need to wire back the wastegate puck arm to prevent boost?

I actually tried disconnecting my wastegate once, and found i was still able to make at least 10 lbs of boost.

Just picked mine up this morning and on the short drive home couldnt get it past 0 psi on the boost/vacuum gauge. Shouldnt make any boost with the arm disconnected.

I always but a very small pad lock through the waste gate rod in the hole so they can't put it back on to mess with it:-)

i wouldn't pop the up pipe off, your just asking for something to get sucked in!

Pulling the WG arm doesn't always net you 0 boost. Some bigger turbos will make boost even with it disconnected.

Couldn't you put like a easily attached/removable little clamp on the gas pedal so it only travels so far. Hey I just invented something! patent coming soon.

An extender chip has valet mode and the car will not go over 1/4 throttle. Anything over 1/4 throttle and the check engine light comes on and the car cuts out.

i like this a lot.

I got lucky the one time i dropped of my car at a shop the MAF took a dump and the test drive din't go 30 mph

I had Eric burn me a chip that cut out at 40mph and didn't build boost. I could drive it to the shop but right at 40 the engine cut out. Perfect.
