...I've been on the prowl for a Monte Carlo SS crossmember to replace my T-type's original crossmember. I've been told there is a certain one to use and I want to make sure I don't buy the wrong one.

Can someone have a look at this pic and tell me if this is the correct one? I found a guy who is selling one and just want to make sure it'll work before I hand over the cash.

Thanks in advance

That looks like the right one for a G-body w/200-4r. It isn't for a
TH350. :)

The TR crossmember is different from a regular V8 2004R crossmember. The transmission mount perch is in a different place and the holes to mount the crossmember to the frame are oversized on the TR crossmember (for use with the rubber insulators). I can tell you that the holes on the crossmember pictured are too small to accept the rubber isolators. This would lead me to believe that it is not the correct crossmember for the TR.

The Monte Carlo crossmember would have the pad for the trans mount dead center where the V6 car would have it off set to eliminate some of the V6's inherent vibrations. Some guys used to use the Monte crossmember since poly mounts were only available for that one, but HR Partsnstuff has V6 specific poly mounts now.

I think I remember being told that the swap would require me to grind out the holes on the Monte crossmember in order to be able to fit in the factory TR rubber isolators.

If your current deal falls through, I have one here from an '85 MCSS V8 200R4...
