Question about tuning with alky

I have Razor's kit and a Turbo Tweak alky chip.

I do not have a wideband or pyrometer as of yet, so my scanmaster readings are all I can go by.

My O2#s are in the low 800s, and I'm seening as much as 3 degrees of KR.

Is this a rich knock?

If so, to lower the 02s should I be taking out alky or taking fuel out of the chip? It seems to me I would want more alky than 93 octane pump gas.

When should I start to add timing, and how much?

The boost is at 24

The timing is stock (for the chip 23/24)

I took 10% of fuel out of 1st gear (lowered my 60 4 tenths)
 
At what MPH are you seeing the knock?

There is a huge difference between 3 degree's at 15 MPH and 3 degree's at 120 MPH.


Low 800's is fine. You have to start somewhere. Now dont advance timing until you have the knock squared away if in fact it is a problem.

dom the default timing is 23/21 not 23/24 just dont want you to get confused while tuning 23 first and second and 21 third and fourth. never pull alky just fuel. alky is to quench knock
 
dom you might want to try running without the voltbooster. might be spraying to much

i wouldnt pull fuel till you are at a comfortable boost and timing range. that is for tweaking. your chip should be close at the fueling. i would set the alky at 5.5 to 6 and see if you get the knock to go away if it doesnt i would suspect false knock from shifting. might want to check mounts and clearances of tranny lines and uni. joints. again to little turbos love high timing and big turbos love low timing
 
Real knock escalates 1, 3,5, 7, ........ False knock comes 6, 3, 1, 0....

No amount of alcohol can fix false knock.. like motor mount, bad transmission, TQ converter, exhuast banging the frame.. etc etc etc

Everyone see's knock on the scanmaster and panic's.. you need to step back and ascertain your situation.. and make decisions. You need to control your environment when it comes to tuning.. making WOT pulls from a dead stop when your troubleshooting knock.. is the absolute worse thing you can do. Make 2nd gear or 3rd gear runs.. no shifting.. and watch your scantool.

I get this call on a daily basis on "KNOCK"... any metalic sound coming from the engine sets off the knock detector.. you need to minimize engine rocking back and forth.

Aside from that.. lpaulabbot.. rite on.. ;)

I get this call on a daily basis on "KNOCK"... any metalic sound coming from the engine sets off the knock detector.. you need to minimize engine rocking back and forth.take you car out and pull back to second cruising at 40 then go wot and shift into third and monitor knock if there is none then i would suspect false knock on you full runs from a dig. if ther is knock then i would lower boost and start over after checking car out for banging parts and bad mounts. remember to prime alky lines and lift with numbers that continue to climb numerically 1,2,3,4,5 ect.. let me know when you go to the track i would be happy to come and help in anyway. we will get you in the 11's sooner or later. did you try to make a run with the voltbooster removed. ask julio his opinions on them.

dom that may be with the timing but i never saw that for timing especially with 3rd and fourth higher than 1st and 2nd. but there is always a first. probably a typo on the chip. he does do thousands

As the heat goes up.. its going to get tougher. You need to get the 60 foot on the car down to the 1.6 range. And get the MPH up to 110.

I dont doubt the chip, Eric sets timing based on what information he gets from you when the chip is made.

Try locking the converter, get more aggressive on the launch.. bump up the 1/2 timing.. get the 330 down at the track.
