I'll get right to the point.....

When running the 1/4 mile, is there any performance advantage to leaving the shifter in drive vs overdrive? The reason I ask is because with my car, I need to shift into overdrive before the traps. I "heard" that the transmission would perform better in first and second gear if the shifter is left in drive. If this is not true, then I would prefer to leave the shifter in overdrive and not have to worry about consistant shift into OD....

Thanks, Bill

leaving it in overdive running the quarter seems to work the best.if you manually shift it takes longer for a gear change because you have to knock off the low reverse pack to hit 2nd making the gear change take longer.if the motor will run beyond the governors wot setting than manual shifting will increase performance in certain situations.running the 1320 at wot usually wont initiate a 3/4 shift .
