Did a carfax on the car I'm THIS close to buying..not sure if I should be concerned about this duplicate title stuff below..it's suppose to be a 2 owner car, looking at the history, I'd say 3?
Any idea why a dupe title would be issued? I was thinking of contacting the MI DMV..but figured I'd be hopeless in my cause there..

looks like one owner who moved to another state had a duplicate title just in the new state, then sold the car to its present owner....

I had a dup title issued for my GN when I moved and could not dig up the old title quickly enough to get her registered here.

I'd just ask what happened and see if it sounds reasonable. I can't think of what shady activity it could cover.

OK, cool. Just wanted to toss it out there for any ideas that maybe something I did not think of as a reason why this could occur. I will bring it up.

on another note, who the hell cares how many owners the car had if you LIKE the car? If it is the one you want, it shouldn't matter if it had 30 owners? my .02

PS. I run a car lot, and I just hate this question. WHO THE HELL CARES HOW MANY OWNERS IT HAD! DO YOU LIKE IT???? JUST BUY THE DAMN CAR!!!!!!!! Is my usual response.:D

my gns had 8 owners, the owner before last actully lived in the same town as i do and then it was sold down to bristol and kept down there for 2 years or so. several years ago i remember seeing a gn with a for sale sign on it. i just wonder sometimes if that car was my car.

The only problem you have with multiple owners would be lots of unknowns. One or two of the owners might have gone to crappy mechanics that installed inferior parts or used inferior lubricants. You also might have had an owner that thought he knew how to repair cars and did butch repairs on it. You'd also have to ask yourself why a car like a GN would be sold every two years. Now if the car has 3k miles on it, then you run a lower risk of anything being molested.

It's not a matter of HOW MANY OWNERS it's had..it's a matter of the paper trail on the car and whether the mileage on it is verifiable and the current owner is speaking the truth...if you wanna shell out x amount of dollars on a car without checking up on it that has only 5,000 miles that's your problem. I wouldn't be as naive as that...
