Still going thru trouble shooting things on car after over boosting it few months ago. Thought I blew a HG so tore it down to replace them, turns out they were ok but replaced em anyway with the bullet proof ones. There has been a ticking sound since then (assuming it wasnt there before as I dont remember it, but never really had head under car till then). Crawled under car last weekend and I can hear a quite loud tick coming from bottom of the engine. Bad feeling I screwed a bearing or the crank. I know ya'll will say this was a stupid thing to do and I know it already, but hell, the damage already done. The night before I crawled under car, I was at the friend I bought the car from and tried to do a burnout in front of the house, well, it wouldn't get over about 2500 rpm and had no pull to it at all. It use to light em up NP power braking so I know something unusual is up. It seems to drive ok normally, boosts and all, but does seem slower than it was. Any insight would be appreciated. Already assuming I'm gonna either have to have the bottom end rebuilt (4k the previous owner said when she had to have it done cause a friend of hers over did the boost too) or replace it with a good one pulled from a car.

Is the ticling an exhaust leak on the crossover? An exhaust leak could cause a noticble decrease in spooling the turbo.

The waste gate could be stuck open and would make a ticking, rattling noise that would sound like it was coming from under the cars sans the downpipe.
This would also explain the car not being able to spin the tires.

I have every haunting noise you can imagine and several bad fluid leaks. I just keep driving the POS. A sudden exhaust leak wouldnt totally destroy power. Make sure you can move the wastegate forward and back by hand. Make sure everything is plugged in. When something happens to my power, I always check all the connections, check all the numbers on the scanmaster and pull every spark plug and check it. More often than not, its just a bad tank of gas.

about 98% sure its not exhaust leak. Like I stated, this began after over boosting (24psi on pump gas). Also, even without the turbo, jsut the 3.8 alone should at least try to pull a bit when power braking. No pull at all. just got to abouyt 2500 rpm and sat there like was in neutral.

it'll spool up while driving, just not PBing which is wierd cause it use to light em up no effort (did it once at work showing off to big block chevy boss )

Does it take longer to spool on the road? It will still spool with the wastegate open, it just takes it longer to come up on boost.. The wastegate only needs to be open a little for it to make the rattle and allow pressure to exit the housing.
