Questions about starter....

My starter selenoid just started to act up leaving me to tap on it to start it and was wondering if I can get the selenoid fixed or should I get a whole new starter and how much to expect?

Got my rebuilt at NAPA, so far so good, been a full year now on salvageV6 tons of starts.

Bosch reman. unit was $68.

Get the whole thing. Not all that expensive, didn't need shims or anything either.

Save yours for rebuilding leisurely on the bench for a spare.

Mine is sitting next to the stock turbo waiting for that rebuild.

If it spins and doesn't engage then the solenoid might be suspect but if you need to tap it to make it spin at all it probably has a bad spot on the armature. I would look into a new one before you find out that tapping it will eventually no longer work.
