Will I see a difference using race gas? 110 oct is the highest around here. I've got a J.L. 100+ 23deg. race chip. I use this with my alky. My car is turning 113 mph. Will I see a diff. with a different chip? Current boost setting @24lbs. no knock. 93 oct & alky. This car seems to fly. Can it take me faster with a different chip and race gas?(110 oct) Yup..... lookin to go faster again!!:D

alky & pump gas is aprox the equivalent of 100 octane fuel

you will go faster with 110 if your chip has more timing and you raise the boost

My Joe L. race chip is burnt for 110 but with 26 deg timming with arounf 24lbs of boost with no knock. I would watch out running alky with a race chip. You might want to go with little more timming with race gas.

FWIW my GN ran 12.61@111.97 on race gas and 12.60@110.87 on pump gas and alky. (However, this was at two different tracks.)

Jay, if you are implying that alky+pump gas is equvalent to high octane race gas, you are wrong.....the tune must be changed for race gas and you will go faster in every instance...I emphasize the tune must be changed ie higher boost, higher timing

Running race gas on a low timing pump gas chip will slow you down if anything. Although practically you will not likely see any difference, theoretically there is less energy in "race fuels". Its not inherently the race fuel that makes you faster. It's the higher boost and timing it facilitates that makes you go faster. At least that's my understanding of it all. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It is also my understanding that is correct.

ok now, does anyone have chips in stock for my combo, or are they all custom burned? I know, another dumb question. But hey, how else does one learn?:) Who to contact? Thanks

Grey1 : Any of the guys that burn chips on this board can have you one done in short order. Jay Carter, Eric marshall, Joe Lubrant, etc.. Hey if I forgot someone no big deal, plenty of people here to chime in where my memory is failing me.

I had what I thought was a good chip. I recently had another one done just for my current combo and it made a big difference.

Best way is to have an Alky chip and a Race Gas chip. Race Gas and correct chip will always be faster and "SAFER" than alky. :D
