Is there such a thing. Was having a conversation with someone last nite and said, if you wreck at the track your out of luck for getting your car repaired by your insurance. Worse yet, say you come across the track and take the other guy out, no liabilty coverage! I know there is a risk with racing, but getting sued would really suck, not to mention wrecking your car

The paper you sign before racing pretty much releases all responsibility from anyone involved. So, the chances of you getting sued are extremely remote, but not 100%.

So, yes if you crash at the track, no insurance company will cover you. There was a guy at the track with a brand new cobra (couple years ago) with temp tags and a big 2 stage nitrous setup. He came out of the hole out of control, got out of it, got back in it, got out of it, got back in it and then managed to roll it 4 times. Must suck to make payments on a car for 5 years and not be able to drive it.

The one time I ran my car I never signed a paper. All I did was pay the $10 to run. This was on test and tune night so that may have been why.

There is a specialty company that offers "race car" insurance. I will see if I can find the info.

:)

Good luck, all I could find was medical insurance for racers. I'm not sure if anything covers the car. The guy in the other lane crossed over and wrecked my GN last Dec.

Car Coverage:

There are other companies, too. Coverage is for racing in sanctioned (key definition) events. (Bodily injury at sanctioned events would be covered under the standard insurance offered by the sanctioning body as a benefit of your membership in the organization (e.g., NHRA).)

Damage you inflict on someone else's car? Dunno. Let us know what you learn about insurance if you decide to research it. If you don't, I will report next year when I do.
