Yes, if you're playing old school games like R6, compared to games like Planetside (you need a friggen radeon 10000 XT gold pinnacle super edition to run that game), or HL2, a video card, plus a high end system is what you'll need.

Although, older games,or video capture you shouldn't need much at all. You could just pick up a pinnacle capture card.

I just put one of these in a buddy's P4 (older 1.7ghz, 512mb ram) and he said now it's like he never had a video card.
