Radiator nipple advice needed

As u can see in my pics the plastic nipple broke off at the top of the radiator it's for the reservoir tank can this be repaired? I'd hate to have to replace the whole radiator for just that piece if it can b fixed.... Have any of you dealt with this before? Any suggestions on what would work here? Thanx

there's always jb weld if you're feeling ghetto. I'm sure someone else here probably has a better solution though.
 
Your local radiator shop sb able to fix that by brazing on a new piece of brass tubing for your overflow.

JOC - what year is your car - as mine looks nothing like that set-up.

If the plastic is thick enough, I would go buy an 1/8" or 1/4" pipe thread hose barb and drill the hole out carefully to a size smaller than 1/8" or 1/4"pipe and then thread the brass hose barb into the radiator. I have fixed other hose type things in the past with this trick, but never on a radiator.

See photo for what type of hose barb I'm talking about.

I'd take it to a radiator shop. Don't know what car that is but if it's a common radiator they might have some spare side tanks sitting around.
 
for a 79 dollar radiator i dont think theyd even want to be bothered

i had originally wanted to post to drill and tap for 1/8npt and use a brass 3/8x 1/8npt fitting but the location is where the cap spring and seal is and there may not be room for the nipple to stick in and still be able to install the cap

I don't think the region where the radiator cap is plastic though - yet I could be wrong.

Maybe it is an 89 dollar POS radiator manufactured in that country that is commonly referred to as: 中华人民共和国
 
you can get the 43-3918 rad from advanceauto online , 89.00 less the online discount (usually 20-38% ). fill the cart with a cap , thermostat and and spark plugs until theres 75 dollars after discount and you get free ship ..and it costs you 75 shipped plus you get about 40 dollars in extras free

Sounds like a good deal. I guess it is safe to assume you have done this before? :)
 
Thanx for all tips and suggestions I might try the pipe thread hose barb if its going to be too pricey to repair while I save for something nicer I did call a radiator shop and they mentioned changing out the side tank which won't b expensive according to this guy ... The radiator I'm currently running on my TType is an F body rad

Thats what i would do...if done right will be just as strong.
 
What would u recommend I use on the fittings threads as I thread it in to really seal it ?
 
npt brass into plastic shouldnt need anything... beside the port is not under any pressure
 
I'ld smooth out the end of the stub that's rough, bore out the neck so the stub will fit in and epoxy it.
 
that's what I'm going to first then and see how that works out for me and go from there thanx for all the input and help
