I also just installed a race built tranny w/all Bruces hard parts, but not built by PT. The tranny has not been broken in yet (still waiting for the snow to leave). When putting the tranny in drive from park there is a light ratcheting sound ( almost like putting the tranny in park from drive while not completely stopped) but nowhere near as loud. This sound only happens on the first and sometimes second shift out of park and then goes away on subsequent shifts out of park. When I ran the tranny thru the gears on the stands this noise was not present, but only became apparent after setting the GN on the ground and moving it around in the shop. The guy who built my tranny is an excellent dude and I have no doubts about his capabilities. I wanted to post this question here to see if there is something I can easily do or adjust before bothering him and to help anyone else who might be having a similar problem. Maybe I just need to let the tranny break in and lube up. Any thoughts? Brian

Double check Flexplate bolts and converter bolts. Double ck shift cable (I dont think this is it but ck anyway)
Sounds more like a converter neck or pump rotor problem but the goes away part has got me. Feel free at any time to contact me privatly to resolve . I am interested at what this might be. Also ck the starter housing to flexplate clearence. Cold and idling I have seen it touching the starter housing. Again, just ck to eliminate. Let us know BT

Thanks for your suggestions Bruce. I will check out the areas you mentioned either tommorow or first thing monday. The sound seems to come from the tranny. The weird thing is, this noise was not present/detectable while the car was lifted and I was running it thru the gears adding fluid and warming the trans. It also is quiet thru all other shifts including back into park. I will call you monday and fill you in. Brian
