Hello All,
Perhaps someone here could tell me how to get rid of the rattles that occur around the windsheild area of my Buick. It is quite annoying. I have greased the hood rubbers and tightened everthing I can think of but it drives me crazy. Sounds somewhat like the windshield is loose but does not appear to be.
I like the car a lot and it runs great but would like to get rid of the noise when I hit bumps or whatever. The car is a 87 Turbo T with T tops and WE4 package. I have the x brace behind the seat and the body bushing installed. Appreciate any suggestions.

Bob

i have had 4 of these cars 2 hardtops and 2 t-tops ALL made that annoying noise in the windshield area good news is the noise goes away in warmer weather bad news you live in Alaska

Try the other braces for the front of car. Under the hood X brace. Under motor/front of car braces, etc. Big help in noise. I have had a couple of T-tops, and the front braces are a must! Call Postons or Kirban.

I guess you greased the black round hood stop, by the firewall, on the center-line of car?

I got tired of digging out the vaseline to lubricate that thing, and threw a Chap-stik in the console to use instead. Seems to work just fine, but I have only just started using it, so I can't comment on how long it will hold up. The noise does sound just like the windshield is loose.

Have you checked your interior trim pieces that run around the windshield?

I also have a small noise that comes from the HVAC whenever the blend door is set to hot. Fortunately in FL, this doesn't happen much.

It’s a GM product. ;)

i had the same problem and greasing the hood bushings helped minimally. what to do is take off the plastic speaker cover and youll see torx screws that hold the dash to the firewall. they will probably be very loose, and if they're not completely stripped out thightening will solve your problem. worked like a charm for me HTH

Thanks to all whom made suggestions about the rattles on my 87 Buick TR, T-Top auto. Will post again if I succeed in stopping the very annoying problem with rattles.
Just want to add that driving the turbo cars at 20 degrees or so (we have very low humidity) the power output is outrageous. Of course this has to be done before the annual 10 to 12 foot of snow fall. Thanks again

Bob :)
