rattling noise when shutting off

Not all of the time, but most of the time when I shut my car off it makes a horrible rattling noise as the rpms die. I checked to see if anything was hitting and found nothing. Anyone else ever have this problem or have any idea what it may be?

Hmmm.I'd look at them flexplate to converter bolts.. joe

I fully agree with Joe!

I had the same problem that progressively got worse until last weekend when I finally checked the converter bolts. All three were finger tight. Took 15 minutes to take them out put on some lock-tite and re-torque. Solved my rattle problem.

Unfortunately, I had that problem with my first Regal, so I knew to look to that first. I had just retightened them about a month ago anyways. I checked and they were still tight. It's weird in that it doesn't do it all the time, but when it does it is loud and draws unwanted attention. I am having my mechanic check it out when he fixes the oil leak on Monday. any other suggestions?
