First off, just wanted to give some insight into the Alkycontrol operation.
I needed a pump, so I called up Julio, and he said he had one so I went down there. I was expecting to go to a shop, be sold a Shurflo pump out of the box with a seal or two changed maybe, and sent back on my happy way. Boy was I surprised. I got there and an employee of Alkycontrol was taking apart the pump that was to be sold to me, inspecting/changing all seals, resealing the pump, and then.......actually BENCH TESTING the pump to make sure it was outputting correctly. As it turned out, the pump was not spraying properly, and it ended up having a bad diaphram from the mfg. So they quickly diagnosed the problem, swapped the diaphram, retested, and it sprayed properly. Wow.
Next I decided I wanted to buy a controller from them. So instead of just getting me a controller off the shelf and putting in a box...what do they do? They hook up the actual controler they are selling me, to the actual pump they are selling me, and bench test them both together and make sure they work! I could not believe it.. a vendor that actually tests EVERY component before packaging for sale! There is NO wonder why Alkycontrol kits sold to the customer never have issues upon arrival.
So ofcourse..I install the parts in my car, and they work flawlessly. And why wouldn't they since they were bench tested before I even purchased. This is a company that actually gives a crap about selling quality parts, and customer service. Not to mention real laid back guys who like to shoot the breeze about cars while they are building your kit infront of you.
No I don't work for alkycontrol..no I don't get any kickback for posting this.. I was so impressed by their attention to detail and dedication to quality, that I had to post this to make it public and let you guys know the level of effort these guys put to ensure everything actually works before you get it in your hands. That coupled with the fact that they are local, I will not go anywhere less or reccomend anyone else for Meth inj needs. Thanks guys.
On to the question:
On the controller...if I set the Gain to 8 (max), is that basically giving the pump full voltage once the boost ramps up to max boost (I.E. 13.5 volts or whatever the car is putting out at the time)? Or is it still somewhat less than max? I'm just trying to understand if setting the Gain to 8 is the same as basically the same as just wiring the pump to a hobbs switch and having it come on 'full blast' (except at low boost where it is ramping up).
Thanks.
