Just a quick question. Whats the fattest tire size I can fit on stock GN rims? My car has stock rims currently, and until I spend the money on some draglites or prostars or anything, I just wanna put some decent tires on the rear. I'm told that I could have a rubbing problem if I put anything too wide back there as well. So at what size am I safe with on stock wheels?

i run 275-60-15's on my stock GN wheels in the back and 235-60-15's on my stock GN wheels in the front. there is about 1/2-3/4 inch clearance between the frame rail and the tire side. it has rubbed but only a couple of times hitting a deep pothole. a 275 tire is the max. width recommended for a 7 inch rim. my car has a slight but noticeable rake or forward lean. i like it. everyone at school thinks i have some super fast, highly modded car:D i have seena we-4 w/295's on the rear and it looked NICE but he was using t type rims so i guess you could get a bit more width going to t type rims and you could save a bit of weight but you would look the "GN look". its all a matter of what you want. BTW, 275-60-15's are exactly 28" tall which im told is perfect for drag racing b/c of the added gearing and it keeps the car from overrevving through the traps and keeps it in its powerband.
HTH:D

Cool.. I was thinking of putting 265/60/15's on the rear on stock rims (for the time being). Until budget allows a new set of rims. I have a pair of Yokohama's in that size in my basement now, that were my fathers old street tires for the rear. And still have plenty of tread. Theres 215/65's on the front at the moment.. I think.. I have to look again. But I dont want the rear to be lower then the front end. I'd rather it be the other way around. We'll see how it goes.

I have the nitto dr 275/50/15s. For a DOT and traction tire these IMO are the best. I would have gone to the 275/60/15s but Nitto did not make them at the time. So I would get the 275/60/15 Nitto DRs since they are 28" tall tires and should produce better results when racing.
