i got an 84 20 bolt engine with a SPUN bearing #1cyl and smacked head.crank measures junk. turbo has a lot of play up and down. think i should just buy the local junkyard engine(85 eng with turbo)for 1000 or rebuild my engine. and if i rebuild mine i would like a suggestion for a really good cam for a stock 84 hotair?thanks andy

junkyard Engine--toooo much $$$$

too much $$ for a junk yard motor---Look on these boards for a better deal,I`ve seen em here before.Heck I bought a complete 84 tr for $1000 !!! A lot better than that junk yard motor !! Just my two cents worth----Jack

Yeah thats to much for a junk yard motor with no reassurance you won't be doing this again in 6K. I would keep your eyes out on this forum at Gnttype.org and on Ebay. I've seen stock hot air motors going for $500-$700 and 86/87 for $1700-$2500 Might be a good time to go for a late model motor.

Deffintly to much for a junk yard engine I just picked up a 85 motor for $350 complete with turbo all the exhaust to the cat, and all the accesories, its complete. It has 78k on it and the guy in the office told me I have a 90day warrantey so to get it in as soon as posible. Best thing to do would be rebuild yours so you know everythings fresh.
