I found a 84 t type, but the owner tells me that the turbo needs to be rebuilt. Is that even possible, i have heard that you cant rebuild them, and is that expensive to do?

All depends on what it looks like when you tear it apart. A rebuild kit will run you about $100 or so. But the kicker is...your impellers, (compressor and exhaust), need to be in really good shape...ie: no cracks, chips, or rough edges. and you have to be sure they haven't contacted the walls of the housing either. The shaft needs to look like chrome where the bearings ride. No pits or scoring. So there are alot of variables involved. How much shaft play does it have? Does it blow oil into the intake? Are you willing to take it apart? Why does he think it needs rebuilt? All ?'s that you need to ask. HTH ---Keith

I might have a project Regal for you. See the post titled: What's in your driveway?? It is in the Members rides section. Top two pics in my post. FWIW

I rebuilt my PT54 for $150.00 from Limit. You must tear it down before they can send you the parts though. They need to know what size your bearings are. Very simple rebuild.

ok cool, is it pretty simple to rebuild? I have no idea what a turbo looks like on the inside.
