Just wanting to see if those who are using the "Reg. Translator" are satisfied with it?

Has it been easy to tune with?

Are your o2's, blm's etc. all good?

Does it work great using your own chip?

How many are using the extender chip & would you recommend doing so?

Anyone using the SMC alchy kit with it?

How many of you would buy the Translator + if you could buy over again?

UNGN: I was hoping you would reply as you always seem to be very knowledgable about these cars. I believe I read somewhere in the achives that you modified your translator to flow more air by removing the screen in it & by bell mouthing it some. Would you recommend that mod to all & is there any down side to doing that?
So, the Trans. + is not really worth the extra 100.00? Are you using your own chip or the extender? What are your thoughts on the extender chip?

I am very happy with mine also. Running it with Thrashers. It turns out my stock MAF was working fine, but when I made the switch my car immediately idled better and was more responsive. It is just a better designed sensor then our OEM's.
I am running alcohol with it and have no problems. I have not modified the screen

I ran a Translator, and then wound up going to the T+.

I never leave home without it.

My car never idle or drove better. I'm using the SMC kit and it seems to like it (25 PSI). I have the EXT. chip in it also. My numbers are good BLM 126-130 and O2's are 790 under WOT.

I use the Translator/LT1 MAF setup as a replacement for the expensive and sometimes inconsistant rebuilt or knockoff OEM style MAF's. For that purpose alone, they are worth the extra money. The benifits of increased flow, bulletproof construction and accurate flow readings are just icing on the cake. The MAF is one of the most important sensors for performance and driveability. Trying to save a few bucks using a used OEM or knock-off MAF will cost more than a Translator/LT1 set-up in the long run.

Buy a T+ if you are planning to use an extender chip. If you are going to use your current chip, a regular translator will suffice.

As for modifying them for extra flow, removing the screen and blending the screen ridge in will increase the flow, with none of the downsides removing both screens in a stock MAF would have. You shouldn'tneed a chip that has been specifically burned for no screen.

Flow Through the MAF can also be increased by putting a bellmouth on the Inlet of the MAF. On my MAF I use a 3.5" opening filter and made a smooth transition into the mouth of the 3" MAF. On of my future plans is to use a 6" opening filter and make a 6" to 3" transition at the mouth of the MAF. The more "pure" the bellmouth, the more air will flow through the throat of the MAF.

Im looking pretty soon to throw one of these LT1 MAF on my car with my setup what do you guys think? Where can i get one of these and what is it im exactly looking for?. Not sure and a little confused about Translator and Trans + can someone shed some lite for me.

thanks

The ONLY difference between the MAFT and the MAFT+ is that the plus give you trhe ability to adjust timing. It does not matter what chip you are running. If you want more tuneability get a plus if that is not important to you get the regular unit.

Thanks guys, where is a good place to look for one of these things? and which one exactly am i looking for? Im not going to adjust any timing, so the MAFT would be good. When i order it will it say LT1?.

thanks
