Looking at a car that has not been legal (registered/safety) in two years. If I get this car, does anyone know what I need to get it legal. Also what it might cost? Also the title was signed by the last owner but not registered to the new owner. Has been like that for a while..... think three or four months.

Hey Ryan,

Try this link. Look under highlights on the left side. http://www.honolulu.gov/menu/online_services/

You will need to first get insurance then go get a safety check. When you get everything got to the satellite city halls and you will need to pay for the $10 transfer fees and the back registration that is due.

If the title was signed and not dated then it should be ok. If it's dated I think there is a $100 charge if it's passed 10 days when it was signed. You will be paying for $$$ to get this car registered!

Hey Ryan,
Is this the turbo-t? He called you? In any case, good luck in your endeavors.

Derek, Yes the guy gave me a call back. Looks like it needs some work. Blown head gasket.

Badguy6, Thanks. That is a great site. No so good on the registration fees. Over 500 bucks to register. That's only if the previous owner did not sign it many years ago. Think I'll pick it up. If I can get it on base or find a storage area for it.
