I made some tools from 2" diameter exhaust pipe. The two sleeves are used as driver and as receiver. The cut piece that is scrolled out I placed between the control arm ears to keep them from crushing in. Then I assembled, had a friend hold the control arm with the pieces installed on either end and pounded the bushings in with a sledge. The 2" piece did one end, the other side is about 1 3/4". However you can measure and figure out what you need. Short pieces of exhaust pipe are cheap at the parts store.

Not a bad idea but if you can, weld them into place before you take the old ones out. It will reduce the small amount of flex that the stock arms have.:)
