Have finally narrowed my exhaust leak to a leak between the header and block. Question is, whats the best way of removing the header to install the remflex gasket? Should I remove the compressor and alt.? Through the wheel well? Will I need to get the car off the ground? First time tackling this chore and want some guidance from those of you that have "been there, done that". Thanks in advance for your suggestions...Cesar

p.s.
getting hot as hell in Vegas :frown:

hi! it sounds like you are talking about the passenger side header. i swapped mine with the help of another member (esinger). i took off my up and down pipe and was able to get 5 bolts off from top and 1 off from underneath. we also removed the cross over pipe. i think we pulled it out from the top but i can't remember. hope this helps!

You're right, I'm talking about the passenger side. I don't need to remove it, just looking to separate it enough from the head to slide in the remflex gasket. Will I have to disconnect any other exhaust parts other than uppipe or will it simply have enough "play" after removing the 6 bolts to provide the room I need?

truly i think i remember us having to remove or at least loosen the down pipe for ease of access. i have an aftermarket down pipe 3" i believe. i just remember the upper bolts were alot easier than the lower bolts to remove! i'm really not sure if you will have to remove anything else. i guess it will depend upon your tools.

thanx for the reply. I just dont need any surprises as this is currently my daily driver and have to get this done and over with the same day. As always something unexpected might come up then I wont be able to get to work :D

Loosen the down pipe, and remove the up pipe, i just replaced mine today, plan on spending an hour or 2 doing it, and sith is right, those lower bolts are tricky

My car never seems to stop surprising me. While starting my gasket replacement I noticed a small crack on my Poston headers. These only have about 10k on them...wtf! I'll get them welded in the morning and look forward to happy spooling after that. At least it got me to finally remove the accessory bracket to replace it with a v8 counterpart for the alternator upgrade

Mine sounded like absolute **** with the headers cracked, and would only hold 5-8lbs boost, not to mention the turbo lag

GOT A NEW CAR!!! Not really, it just feels like it. Got my header fixed and it sounds and drives like a TOTALLY different car. This is the first time the car is running 100%---finally understand what all the fuzz is about. Gotta say that the remflex gasket sealed beautifully and its a great quality piece. Will not use anything else. Time to turn up the boost ;-)
