This is what I've done"

1. Removed all bolts and retainer plates, exhaust housing rotates freeley.
2. Gentley pulled and rocked the housing slightley, but there is only slight movement upward.
3. Looked into exhaust housing with light. No evidence of movement.
4. Sprayed WD inside where the backer plate meets the housing.
5. Waited, and no luck.

Am I a idiot, or is there a trick to this. Do I need to send it out?

Turbo is a PT-76 with .81 A/R. I am trying a smaller housing.

I don't have any experience with the larger housings but I would think it should come off. You may have to tap on it a little. I would spray some penetrating oil on it to loosen it up. HTH

I've taken apart some stock turbos that had some MILES on them and I am afraid to say that I had to beat them around quite a bit. Not that I am recommending this, as one bent some turbine blades on it's way off but it was toast anyway. On the other hand, I switched housings on my WE4 and my T-Type to PTE units with seemingly little difficulty (did it without even removing the turbos), but they were lower mileage units. Guess you're gonna have to try being a little rougher with it?!

i just did it to my te63 and i had to hit a little with a hammer, it only had 10k miles on it. i also did it to my te61 and same thing had to hit it and that turbo only had 3k on it.

as a side note if you sell the housing i would be interested as i want larger the 63 is not enough for me, if it matched up with a th dp that is.
