I bought the big o ring that I think goes between the block and the adapter. How does that thing come off? It looks like the filter needs to come off and then the filter adapter. Is that all I need to do?

Yep, That How It Comes Off, I Cant Tell You Size It,
Your On The Right Track,
Good Luck, Have Fun,

Remove the oil filter, after its off you will notice the threaded part that the oil filter goes on can be unscrewed. I think it takes a 1 1/8 wench but I'm not 100% on that. Be sure to torque the adapter when you reinstall. I think I gets 18 ft/lbs but again I'm not 100% sure.

The nut holding it on (I believe a 1" socket will do) is actually part of a shaft that goes down the center to the oil pump housing. Just remove that nut and it will come right off. Were you able to get the "O" ring at a localparts store? I took mine off yesterday and the "O" ring was tore.
