Replace TC with a manual clutch?

Crazy? Me? :-P

I´m looking around for a strong transmission and started calling our well known heavy duty race builders here in Sweden. All of them praised the TH400. BUT, they said that the strongest application was to put a manual clutch instead of "put a blowtorch in the converter".

Anyone experienced of that?
