I have a old square SMC Alky kit and in need of new pump. SMC no longer has this pump on hand anymore. Just wonder if anyone knows were to get a pump.

why not call Steve at SMC and see what solutions he may have??? or is that to easy :p

I used a Walbro GSS242 the old Kenne Bell intank pump, had to rehose it, and it barely fits in there down the hole.

Only been in there 3 years though, not sure if it's tested well enough yet.

Ethanol only with a capful of Klotz lube each fill.

I used a piece of braided teflon hose to connect it and rewired the power connections and resealed them.

I don't think SMC has any more intank pumps, so I'd say that's not too easy. ;)

I'm not really anticipating any more problems than folks using Winnebago water pumps to spray alky. :p

I'm in the same boat. Contacted Steve with no luck, but have been told pumps for some Chryslers and Plymoths would work and are virtually the same. The pump I'm currently using is from an 86' GN stock pump.... I've been advised I'm taking a big risk which i agree. It lasted all last summer and we will see how it goes after sitting all winter. If it fails and my motor is still in one piece I will purchase and try the Chrysler pump..

Forgot to mention mine pumped gas for about 17 years in my car first before getting into Alky duty. :)

And I always press my test button when I put the car in gear and start moving. :)

Always.

Confirmed with Steve at SMC December 2007 via telephone conversation that he had no more in-tank pumps like the one referenced. I got one of his last ones he had right before that time. I'm sure he has other solutions for anyone who is or has used one of his kits though... :)

Alky pump

After last post I used the part number for AIRTEK pump and did a google search and found lots of sources. I bought a brandy new one from a guy in PA on CRaig's list. I paid 38bucks shipped for it.
