The top of my gn is very wavy. I think it would take a fair amount of body filler to straighhten it out. With the labor rate and the work involved it would be very expensive. Even then, I doubt then could get it as straight as it should be. I wonder would it be worth it to get a roof from a donor regal and have it swapped instead. Price wise I think it would be fairly close.

I know it would have to be a very reputable shop, that goes with out saying:)

What do you guys think???

All opinions are appreciated:)

Go for it!! About a year ago i was getting a re-paint on my 87gn with dealer installed C&C t-tops.Finding repacement weatherstripping for it were impossible!!! Plus i was tried of all the headaches that come with the t-tops.So on advice from my body/paint man, we cut the old t-top roof off and with the help of BWEAVY we put on a nice hardtop from a donor GN. The car looks 100%,most people think that i just got another GN !! Any good body shop should be able to handle it. Later-kurt

hang10.........

Do you remember a ball park figure for the work?? how much of the donor roof support do I need, or should they know when I ask for the roof section???

THANK:D

I was going to this on a Regal to get rid of a rust problem caused by a vinyl top and it was going to run about $500 in labor alone. To do it right is very time consuming. This covered removing and replacing(R&R) the windshield and back glass and sealing the surface. I was going to do all the dirty work by getting the used roof and R&R'ing the 1/4 glass, headliner and any thing else that wasn't welded down. I figure I would have had about $1K wrapped up in it.

My body/paint man charged $400 to do the work.I supplied the roof .Give Brian Weaver a call at gmbodyparts.com and he can tell you how much roof section you need.

I already have my donor hardtop car to replace my TTOP roof. I think I'll be OK for another 10 years though. :D

My car has t-tops and has some rust in that area. I don't know whether they can repair the rust or have to put on a new roof. Either way how much would a job like that run? I hope to get the car painted next year or so and already know that the paint and getting out the small dents and dings will run me around $1500 to 2 grand. I'm not looking to put alot of money in a paint job since mine is a daily driver. The last time I got my other GN painted they started doing roadwork in front of my house less than a week later. Needless to say I had several small chips behind both rear wheels in my brand new paint.
