What all does a Scanmaster tell you?

The Scanmaster is the simplest, cheapest scanning tool, right? It just plugs into the port underneath the radio, right?

But what's the difference between Scanmaster, Scanmaster II, Scanmaster III, etc?

And how much do they typically cost?

Is there a web site that answers all my questions and then some?
