Doesn't need to be exact stock but I want it to look/fit good.

GBodyparts:
(1) Bumper fillers- $235 fiberglass front and back.
(2) Rebuilt power antenna $200
Kirban:
(1) GNX welting for my fender flares $27
(2) black outer door key faceplates $11
NOS4GN:
(1) Rear bumper cushion $185
(2) Lier sigler leather $1190 you only live once
(3) carpet with jute and rubber backing $165

I already have some NOS parts like a grill, headlight bezels, door handles, bumperettes.
Will be getting the car painted and want it all to look good. Should I get bumpers painted or powder coated? The carpet in there is cut a little short and doesn't slip under the door sills. Anybody have experience with carpet from above distributors? Are fiberglass bumper fillers ok?
Any other suggestions?

Nice list. I would get the bumpers paitned along with the car so everything matches.

I also was going to buy a fiberglass hood and trunk lid, but when I compared price with weight savings I decided against it.

Getting mine total restoration back Monday, cant wait. Went with Fiberglass bumper fillers and they look awesome. Saw the car friday and it was nearly all together except Sills, emblems, and door panels. Couldnt believe how good it looked not being waxed yet (just wet sanded). I personally had everything painted to stock. My list grew as the resto progressed. All exterior trim, new factory grille (86), bumperetts, cushions, weather strip, blah blah blah. 6,380 in paint and body work. 3,300 in new parts. GEESH. (1200 of that was never mounted stock 86/97 wheels). Good luck.

I hope mine comes out good. Won't be spending quite as much as you did. Plan is to remove rear quarter windows, but just remove trim around the front and back windows. How did you do your windows? What do you guys recommend regarding the rubber strip along the doors/fender? I don't plan on parking it next to anybody but you know how that goes-no matter how far away you park, some idiot has to park next to you. I have the factory metal piece that attaches to the door edge. I was thinking of just putting that on and leaving the rubber strip off. Is that metal piece pretty rare?

Mine had the door and fender guards on as well, and I wont be replacing them. The car looks so much better without it. I was hoping not to spend that much but I bought the car at a good price this spring knowing It need paint/body. So I would rather have 18k in a car knowings its done correct (I guess). Mine price added up since I had three rust holes that needed metal work and the car was in an accident and fixed really crappy by the old owner. Had to have the frame straigtened on the driver side. Other owner had 3 coats of paint on it as well. The shop removed all my glass and sand blasted the edges to clean, prevent leaks if surface rust had started. I purchaced all window trim and had them paint it satin black.

Weatherstrippng and maybe some fresh trim screws for bezels/bumper lights and wheel well moulding if you put it back on.

I didnt know Kirban carried the key lock covers and gaskets, but the gaskets look all the same on his site. The gasket are a little different and even have different numbers.

im doing a paint job in the spring so ive been generating a parts list myself..

First shot is the car before, then next two are the car on Friday after wed sanded. I tried to pick the shots with the glass out and the sand blasting. Hope they show in that order but it may be reversed. Photobucket is strange sometimes.

I'll ask Kirban about the gaskets. Thanks for the heads up. Gidyuppp, your car looks great! I put all the screws from the front bumper, headlights, etc. in a jar of metal/rust stripper. Will do the same for rear bumper. Bodyshop uses PPG products. I'll check their website to see if they have different types of paint and clear coat.

Giddy..did you do any parts take off yourself ? Is that that paint & body $6380 "friend" prices ?

Ive removed on mine so far..
bumpers/fillers
headlight bezels
wheel well trim
badges
trunk trim
hood trim
front/rear window trim
opera glass
door mirrors
door handles and locks
stripped all interior except driver seat and carpet.

hope my paint quote number is good

GN rick, here some P/N for the lock gaskets....
Door Lock: 4587931
Trunk Lock: 20030348
Black Caps: 20496885

Thanks for the lock gasket part #'s! Per gmpartsdirect I can get all three parts shipped for $47. Kirban charges $11 plus shipping. However, the $47 price includes 20 washers of each part #, and 5 caps. So now I need to just find someone who has a few extra. Do they sell them in the Help section at parts stores?

Rick,

I did not lay a hand on the car so that quote of 6380 was all the work done. My only part in the process was to find the parts I needed either here, ebay, and Gbodyparts and Kirban were very helpful. The shop kept my car so damn long (took it in June 23) they gave me a little break on hourly rate (I think 40/hr to 32/hr). This is a GM dealership and the reason I took it there is because I had a 77 Vette that I had painted and they did an incredible job with that. They use Sherwin Williams and not PPG. I think, if I recall, the Sherwin Williams paint was about 320 bucks. I had a new windshield put in since it was pitted a bid so that was 300, other than the metal for welding and sandpaper for sanding I brought them ever nut, bolt, washer, screw so all that price is labor hours.

Any other suggestions? How about carpet? Anybody have experience with carpet from Kirban, GBody, NOS4GN or anybody else? Thanks!
