i had a goal for the car, i need to rebuild the motor so i figured i'd build it to handle low 11's. then i got to thinking what will it take to handle a low 11? i also need to rebuild the tranny so that needs to be taken into concideration too.

heres my thoughts. bigger valves maybe a light port/ polish job on stock heads, 30 over pistons, mild cam, 60 something turbo, good converter, i don't know about ic, maybe dutt neck stock ic i don't know there. I don't see anything there thats too radical or is going to cost too much. which money is a big deal, i wish i had a bottomless budget, but i don't.

i want to keep it under $5k, i'm thinking a lot of used parts is going to be the way to go.

what do you think a realistic goal is? keep in mind i'm at 6,000 feet, stuff is slower up here, a littler 1/2 a second slower.

I've been thinking the same thing as you. I'm kicking around a mild roller cam (too many horror stories of wiping a cam lobe), champion iron heads, a TE-45a and a 9x11 with 3600 - 3800 stall.
Of course I have heard that one can run mid 11's up here with a stock long block, a maxed out TE-44 and a bit of spray.

i still don't understand how your doing that...

my big thing is a roll bar. part of me says DO IT! but at the sme time i'm thinking, grandma cars don't have roll bars. thinking of that is it legal to use an oval tube bar, to sortof hide it? then put the verticle bars behind the plastic?

I don't think an oval tube is legal - I bought the NHRA rule book and took it along with my car to Precision Mechanical. You really have to look to see the bar, even with the T-tops off.
