Reuse Headgasket?

I have a question. I have my engine on the stand right now with the heads on, with the stock type graphite headgasket. I want to open up the ring gap a little bit more than what it is now. The heads have been torqued on for 2 days now. Could you reuse the headgaskets being the engine hasn't been run yet?

My ring gap was set at .016 top, .018 second. I want to open them up a little bit.

I have done it and would not be afraid to do it again. Be careful and pay close attention to details.

I agree with Lee. IF......you install them in the EXACT postion and orientation. Just consider them Pre-Pre flattened wire ring gaskets.
