do our cars have rev limiters on them? im sure they do but what rpm's are they at?
i ask this because for some reason when the car is in drive(not overdrive) and i am on it all the way, right before it goes into second gear it acts as if it hits a rev limiter and stumbles and i guess the turbo "coughs" a little bit. it has only done this maybe 2 or 3 times but its getting me a little hesitant to get on it during that 1-2 shift.

kinda sounds like your valves are floating...it feels like you are hitting a rev limit...

our cars are rev limited by the chip...usually around 5200-5400 rpm is the norm

If you have old stock valve springs, that could cause the "rev limiter" feeling too. The old spring tend to go soft and, under boost will have a hard time pulling your valves closed.

my tach doesnt work anyways so i mnot sure what rpm it is doing it at. my car has 157,000 miles on it and i am sure the valve springs are still original. the car looks and acts like it only has 57,000 though. it runs perfect. except for this little problem

it stumbles towards the top end of 1st gear.
is this a big worry or am i ok driving my car around for a little while longer?

you can drive the car all you want on weak springs...but don't get to heavy on the pedal until you get them replaced with stronger springs...go with comp cams 979's or 980 springs or the kirban 100lb lt1 springs...they will bring lots of pep back into the car
