Richie

Awesome job doing so well against those guys despite the low MPH!!!:) Limited Street is a tough class and for him to do so well with the little V6 is quite amazing to say the least:cool:

I started to post this yesterday when I saw it on outlawracing but I was still in shock at the new record for EZ street that I plan on running--5.28 by BB&T's turbo mustang. There is a lot of controversy around this car and it looks like it will only get worse now.

Dusty,

You should have the ablilty to make more power with the GT47 and the extra cubes/cylinders than Richie. He has gone 5.1s.

What is the problem with the new mustang?
Are we talking about the small turbo rule?
Do you think they will impose the 88MM Limit!

There was some concern on the turbo's but he has gone to a 91mm now. The problem is his suspension from what I hear. I spoke to them at Huntsville a couple weeks ago and they seemed honest about what was going on, but here is what I have heard.

You know this car is the same car they ran outlaw with. Supposedly they removed the 4 link bars and simply installed control arms in the same location the 4 link bars were in and used bolt in coil overs which leaves the car as basically a 4 link. I never looked under the car so I can't say for sure but it seems they were smart enough to do it so that it meets the rules but makes everybody mad.

I don't look for a turbo limit but for a different class all together. The nitrous guys complain all the time and the track owners listen to the majority. I expect to see an Outlaw EZ and a NOS EZ. Some track's have talked about outlawing turbo's all together because they don't know how to go about teching them. I have had discussions with one event organizer and mentioned the plug like we use but then you get into the same thing with the ported shroud like TSM. I left this little detail out though since mine does have the ported shroud.

What they don't look at though is that BB&T's NOS car was right behind the turbo car. They simply cry about the turbo car since it lays down some big numbers. Most of the top NOS cars are in the 5.60 range with the BB&T nitrous car running consistent 50's on a good track. I just hope they don't go crazy and outlaw the turbo's before I get mine going. The car is at the interior shop now, then on to the frame shop for a few weeks, after that I can start on the headers.

what do yall know about the GT47? who makes them and are they ball bearing or not?
thanks

i looked closeley at the picture, i see the lateral brace under the 9in, but the stock mustang is a variance of the 4 link, so if i were to make a 9in i would probably brace the bracekts i made for the stock suspension components like i would arace 4 link, but if it uses the stock location mounts it should be legal, mabe its just a little extra bracing, i wouldn't think that in a race series like that one that the tech guys wouldn;t stick their head under the rar to check on something like that, especially if its doing that much winning, but you might have more insight than i do to the situation

ps good going richie, give them ford boys a run :)

Richie, I'm not really sure of the specifics of the GT47 (John or Dusty could probably fill you in), but from what I've heard it's an 88mm unit (large frame) good for 1500hp at the flywheel.... It is one of Garrett's new GT series turbos, but I'm sure you could get one from PTE, Limit Engineering, or Innovative.... Not sure if they are ball bearing....

Richie,

Steve pretty much said it all about the GT47.
From what I have heard the wheels are really
heavy and It does not spool the fastest.
On the other hand the top end is amazing.
The BB Units are in the works from what I have heard.
You work with Harry and Jim at PTE, I am sure they
can hook you up with more specifics.
Jose at forced induction seems to know a lot as well.

BTW Dusty is building a V-8 so my comment was not a slight to your car's amazing performance!:D

I've got some pics of my GT47 that I e-mailed to John. I don't know how to post them but if anybody does I can send them.

It's rated at 1500 but that is a high estimate. 1300-1400 is more realistic. And no offense to Jose, he's a local here that I happen to know, but he has an opinion based on some testing with Supra's which are entirely different from a larger cube motor. They spooled slow on 183 ci but with 383 I will be able to spool it with a 3500-3800 stall.

I don't know about the center section but it is a large frame. It has a 7" inlet and is a ported shroud. Exhaust is a 5"

I have a BB 47 coming and just wondering if anyone has run one on a buick. my 88 already has a 5inch outlet so thats no problem. I was wondering about the power difference on the 88. Jim said the radial tire boys in the nmra have changed to them and are saying it is about 100 hp. but I dont know if they have the bb turbo's or not.

Richie,

What did you get you BBGT47 for???$$$
I did not know that they were out yet.
I will consider one for the drag radial
t type I am helping set up.
Is it the 88MM Version?

What are you doing with your old turbo?

nothing yet just trying it out. the 91 is for sale the 88 is not going anywhere right now, its my baby. yes it is the big unit.

What do you want for the 91MM.
What did you think about it?

Should be interesting to see if the BB GT47 spools faster than your current 88 and/or if it makes more power (sounds like it could make as much power as the 91mm you had).... Please let us know how it works out for you!
