I have an extra pair of 15x8 Draglites onto which I'd like to mount some "street" tires like QTPs or MT ET Streets. My 26" tall drag radials are nice on the street but I think I need a taller tire for the track. I'd get 'real' slicks, but I like being able to drive to the track and like being lined up with street cars rather than the heavy stuff (they separate you by tire type at the track).

The rims in question are already drilled for rim screws. There are no tubes installed so they have regular valve stems. I can use these rims with any tires, right? I'd just have to put the screws back in so they don't leak?

TIA for any advice.

yes, it also doesnt hurt to seal the beads with some tire glue or gaskasinch.

Thanks for the tips.

I got the tires mounted today. Didn't put the screws back in and I'm not sure if I should. The bead sealed fine. Is there a safety or NHRA tech reason that I must now put screws in since I have the holes in the rims? I doubt these tires would spin on the rims anyway.

I've ran my slicks on my draglites with the rims drilled, but I have never put the screws in and had no problems. That was on my hot air car, but might need the screws for this 87, it feels at least 2 seconds faster.
