Geez, another great passes.

Yeah, just read about this online.....sad news. Heard them in person three times, my favorite band, Duane was the best ever on guitar. Even went onstage one time and touched all of their equipment!......had a chance to meet them in person, but chickened out.....I didn't feel worthy of it. Regret it a little, but still greatly humbled by their incredible talent.......

I've learned most of all the licks and guitar parts of Duane and Dickey Betts.....most beautiful set of dual guitars I've ever heard.....have all of their albums. What a duet they were! So different, but so alike! Awesome! Gregg's tired, blues voice was like no other.......that guy could sing and write great stuff!

Took Mom and Dad down to Rose Hill Cemetery, Macon, Georgia in '94....sat on Duane Allman's tombstone and played "Little Martha" note for note....my Dad cried like a baby....Mom said that my guitar sounded all through the cemetery.......my brother took a picture of me doing the song sitting on the tombstone....have it framed here in the house.....was a thing I've wanted to do ever since Duane passed away. On his headstone, are the first eight measures of "Little Martha". On the flat tombstone is a full size engraving of a Gibson Les Paul like the one he used.

Next to Duane's is Barry's tombstone......it says "And the road goes on forever" from Midnight Rider. On the flat tombstone is an engraving of his Fender Jazz bass guitar.....awesome! Just awesome!

Gregg was the best blues singer I've ever heard....man, I'm pretty sad over this...same age as me....puts life in perspective a little too well.

I've been an Allman Brother fan ever since they started out in the late 60s...learned their songs, studied their techniques, read every book about them......will never be another group like them ever....

Got to play on the stage of Big Daddy's down in Orlando, Florida one time.....same stage as the Allman Brothers used to play......felt so great.....an honor, really. I was sitting in with my old group, playing "Changes" by The Buddy Miles/Hendrix group....was so amped up being on that stage that I missed my cue to quit on the lead break and continued on with lead guitar for another good 15 minutes! That's how amped up I was being on the same stage as the Allmans were one time...was in a trance like state.........just loved that group...I was mad about them. Such great Southern Rock!

I used to play, and still do, 'Mountain Jam" for hours on end on my guitar. Isn't that a great song or what?

Duane Allman's gone, Barry Oakley's gone, Butch Trucks just recently, and now Gregg.....just incredible!

Life goes on no matter who or what you've achieved in life....it always goes on.

Pretty upsetting news for ol' Brucie here. Really sad. Not right, either.:cry::cry::(

If you've never been to an Allman brother concert u missed an experience RIP

I sure agree with you, buddy. They were just astounding live.......nothing like it....pure music, twin guitars, singing, twin drums, everything and all in perfect timing.....best tight knit band ever. You go home in a very good mood, feeling great.

You are correct , that is one hell of an experience. I was fortunate to see the Allman Brothers and the Outlaws in concert in
the early seventies .True Southern Rock !! .... Truly Missed RIP...
