what is you guys setup for rmi-25? I was told it says use rmi-25 and water when you don't need to worry about freezing. Do any of you guys do this? Or do you just add it in with your anti-freeze and water mix? I am getting this stuff just wondered what everyone else was doing and what their experiences were like with it.

Last year I re-cored my radiator with a CAS high efficiency. When I refilled it I used distilled water and RMI. When the cold weather started to come around October, I drained it, flushed it, and added distilled water/anti-freeze plus a bottle of RMI.

The water/RMI came out clean as a whistle in the fall. I've been too lazy to drain the antifreeze mix this summer. My temps have been just fine. I've never seen over 182 deg F...even in traffic with the A/C on Max...normal temps with that A/C off are 168-170.

Nick Micale will tell you that the water/RMI mix is the best for heat transfer. I'm doing just fine with antifreeze/water/RMI, and it's been pretty hot here in Oklahoma.

The glycol in antifreeze never "wears out". A new bottle of RMI once or twice a year will keep the additives fresh. So, basically, do what you want. If you have the time/patience to change the fluid as the weather changes...go for it.

Good Luck,
John

Your using a whole bottle?
It calls for 8oz

does adding more help keep it cooler?
i have a 32oz bottle here, i didnt know they came in smaller bottles.

Guess you figured I may say something here!

Only 8oz. is required for systems up to 5 gallons.

Since additives do wear out, it is recommended a flush every 6 months. For about $20 a year, if antifreeze is required. this is a cheap price to pay for years of a touble-free cooling system.

I finally was able to put lots of good info about RMI and its use on my web site. Check it out under "tech info".

There are 8oz bottles available. I do not ship them. It turns out with postage, LOT cheaper to buy 4 treatments with a quart bottle.

By "bottle" I meant the 8oz bottle.

BTW...I also us RMI as a pump lube on my SMC alcy kit using 70% denatured/30% distilled water.

John

RMI as SMC pump lube sure sounds expensive. I used about a 3 second squirt of WD40.

I'm only using maybe 1 or 2 capfuls of RMI per 1/2 gal of alcy/water mix. I felt better using the RMI since it was water soluble. When I first got the SMC kit I use straight denatured and used alcy top end lube. The top end lube doesn't mix well with water. I've discovered that it's a lot easier to tune the alcy mix when there's some water in there.

Does the WD-40 mix in with an alcy/water mix OK....if it does...it is a lot cheaper than RMI.
