I will be installing a roll bar in my regal in the spring. It's going to be a 10 point. I get that the cage has to be welded to the frame of the car. I'm wondering if there is any disadvantage to welding gussets from the roll bar to the A-pillar along the front window and from the main hoop to the B-pillar in front of the opera window. My thoughts were to do this mainly for chassis rigidity, but I have never seen any g body's done this way...... I figure there is a reason......?

Body mt flex can/will pull the welds out of the sheet metal body parts.

Unless you are dealing with a unibody car like a Camaro, Vega, etc. I would not do this. The frame and the body are only connected by bolts and have flexible bushings in between. I guess if one replaced the rubber bushings with solid aluminum it may be OK but I still don't think I would. Even solid mounted the body will move slightly. There are not very many bolts holding the two together.

Gotcha, I'm replacing all the body mount bushings, I guess I have my answer as to why no one does this..... thanks.
