I'm looking into caging my car so I'm good into the 10s . What type should I get ? Where can I get one done ? How much will it cost me ?

Where are you located?? That mite help in finding a shop to do it....
If it's the Phoenix area, call Nick Micale.
You don't need a cage to go 10's.....A roll bar is acceptable.
Cost around here is $200 a point, depending on material used.

I'm in SoCal . I have read a roll bar is good from 11.5-11.0 then a 8 point is good from 10.9-10 ?

You can run 10 flat with a roll bar. Don't do a cage it sucks. Ask me how I know.

Okay we'll a roll bar is good for 10s what else is needed to be legal at the track for a high to mid 10s?? How much does it cost to install a roll bar ? Around about ?

O and how do u know Neal ?? Lol

My current car has a cage per the NHRA rules and to be in compliance it has to be welded to the frame. To allow for access you need to cut large holes in the floor so you can weld the tubes in place. Ultimately you're hacking up the car. If it's a race car then it doesn't matter but if it's a street car it's a different story. I can tell you that the cage rattles and squeaks, crashes and bangs around. The best part is the illusion that the cage moves inside the car while you're driving when what is actually happening is that the body is moving around the cage.

If you don't plan to run quicker than 10 flat I'd suggest you install a roll bar and weld it to 6" plates on the body rather than attaching it thru the body to the frame itself. This is technically not legal for a full frame car although it is legal for a unibody car. It makes for a much nicer installation and is quiet and every bit as safe. My previous car was done this way and it never came into question at any time. If you live up in the LA area Beto has my old car or you can check out Ralphs car as it was built to be very similar to mine.

As soon as the bar goes in, there are a host of other considerations.....
Stock seat belts not legal.
Seats have to be fastened to the bar and the frame.
Bar has to be padded in any area that your head can contact.
yadda yadda.....

Best investment is a 2013 NHRA Rule book........Murphy is alive and well. Cut corners, and he'll see that you are "punished."

Thanks guys I will defiantly reconsider this cage deal

Chris, stop by Fabtech.

They are in Chatsworth, next to you, and do top notch work.

Price may not be the cheapest, but you don't want to skimp on safety.
