Who is running a ductile roller without roller rockers? This is on a car with a factory short block.

I am looking at replacing the cam and was thinking going with the ductile roller as opposed to a flat tappet. I was considering the extra cost of the roller (about $600 more), but figure its the price to pay for better reliability. Now I'm reading that roller rockers are recommended ($400). Its somewhat tough to justify a $1200 cam setup on a car with a stock short block when a flat tappet would only be $200 and change.

I ran a 212/212 for 2-3,000 miles with the upgraded rockers and shafts (~$100).

You'll need new pushrods.

I was actually looking at the kit Full Throttle is selling which is:

Kits come complete with:
Austemper camshaft of your choice (see choices and make a note of which one you want on your order in the notes box)
DLS adjustable cam stop for proper preload adjustment
Comp Roller lifters
Chrome Moly .080 wall pushrods for iron heads
Comp's state of the art Beehive springs set
Comp Retainers and +.050 locks for proper install

What else is out there for rockers besides the T&D's?

I was running a 212/212 Comp. roller with stock rockers, everything fine till I was at LVD and broke a rocker shaft in half. I had to spend the whole day finding one at a junk yard and changing it out since no one had an extra. After that went with roller rockers and have never had a prob.

Yea, the shafts are a weak link, especially if using upgraded springs. RJC makes a brace, for lack of proper term, and there are also heavy duty shafts that TA and others sell. My stamped rockers were supposed to be chrome moly.

I think that I sold my old ones to CTX-SLPR and I believe that he said that he wasn't going to use them afterall. They only have 2-3K on them.

I'd be leery of using a generic pushrod with non-adjustable rockers. Really should mock it up and measure to get proper length.

I can't remember if Harland Sharp has some for iron heads or not.

We just installed above package from Full throttle along with the Harland Sharp roller rockers from Mike as well. We will be testing the car out today. We will see :D

Hate to hijack this thread but whats the power gain in a roller cam set up over a flat taped set up??
I have a 206/206 now but am thinking of uping to a roller when we rebuild next year but is it worth the $$$ ???

While searching for info on roller cams, I found many people said they didn't really pick up any more power. It is more or less for reliability/longevity.
