When I reset my ECM and it does the exact thing you're describing I cannot get it into gear without it stalling. I have to feather the throttle and once I finally get it into gear the car will keep running and then the computer reorients itself. This may or may not be your problem but it is easy to try.

I think my IAC is off a little which doesnt help

I HAD THE SAME THING!!

It was my egr. The damn nut was loose and the egr was wobbily. I replaced the valve covers and must not of tightened it well due to the crappy location on the intake. Tightened it up, see ya 2200 rpm and immediate stall.

If you did not have all those part changes this would be way easier for you and your car. Thats why I had to go to the one at a time philosophy. Damn credit cards.

The EGR, hmmm... I tightened the nut all the way for sure, but..
could I have the bracket upsidedown? Thats an awful long shot..

Dave, Thanks, I'm gonna do the Mass-Air swap, but it was working great before..

Update from last night-Well looking at the numbers on Tlink (did get it working) the ONLY numbers that look out of wack are the IAC numbers, 150 key-on engine off, when I start it and it does its 2200rpm thing until it stalls the numbers start counting down to about 54 or so, then STALL....I did the IAC reset procedure and nothing-same symptoms, the IAC, like the Mass-Air was perfect before, so.. I still stumped!! This weekend I'll start trowing parts at it...

could the air be sticking closed? can ya change it to a known good one Brian?

oops, I meant IAC valve? Maybe sticking open and then closing off causing thre stall?

Thanks, yea I'm hoping thats what it is, I'll be swapping that & a few other parts if need be later in the week!

OldGray I had the exact same problem on the weekend. I had the EGR valve off to cleen and lube (since I'm having trouble passing etest). When I started it back up rpm's shot up and then died. I removed the egr again and this time held it over to the left while I was tightening it. That was the problem it must have been sitting to far to the right and caused a vac leak! That would be a nice easy test, and check the gasket. Hope that helps.
Dave
