I have used RMI-25 since spring. My cooling system was always rust free when I used regular antifreeze.

For some reason with the RMI-25 and distilled water, something is rusting and the fluid is orange colored and coated my radiator with a layer of this oxidation also.

My car is a mitsubishi eclipse, I used about 1/3 qt which should be more than adequate. The head and radiator is aluminum but some of the hose nipples are steel.

So I changed it out with another 1/3 qt of RMI and distilled water, 1 week later this is all rusty color again, looks so opaque I almost think I blow a head gasket. But it's just rusty color.

I thought RMI had some kind of anti-corrosion agent in it. Would someone tell me how I can get this all cleaned up.

Please don't tell me it's just knocking out the rust in the system.. I mean it's so bad now open the radiator cap look at the neck the aluminum is coated in brown/orange.

its common, that is very typical... that i not the answer you want but that is the correct answer.

Nick Micale will chime in with a technical answer to this but in the mean time please visit his site. www.arizonagn.com and read about it and if you have high speed internet DL the video on RMI. it will help explain the process more.

Where else can the rust come from except inside your cooling system? RMI does NOT make rust!

Very typical for rust to be seen after RMI is put in the cooling system. That is its job, cleaning, and rust is what is in there. Since it also keeps contaminants in solution, the crud that was in your block is now floating around as the brown crud.

You have OD'ed the system with more RMI than needed for one treatment. If you go to my web site, you will find info for use and care with RMI-25 that will give you more help. :)

I mean if you put straight water, it will rust the system right, sometimes I wonder if I used enough RMI because of this.

Cosmetic wise it seems things look alot worse that's all. Now everything is coated orange and it's not very appealing at all.

However I'll continue to buy from you Nick... and hope one day my components will be silver again ! :D

In cars/trucks a few years old, we recommend the first treatment of RMI be run 500-1000 miles then flushed. Use the RMI treatment when you refill with antifreeze, or purified water, and then go with the 6 month flush program. Only 8oz. of RMI is needed to treat up to a 5 gallon system.

I add the recommedned amount of RMI25 to my K1500 Blazer, in which I run a mix of 50-50 antifreeze. The antifreeze seems to suppress any discoloration or floating rust particles.

I haven't fired up my buick since installing a new aluminum radiator many months ago, but I think I'll run a dilute (10-20%) antifreeze + RMI + distilled water mixture.
