what's the safest method for cleaning the hood insulator (major oil, grease) without damaging the white lettering?

Hey Gary,

I haven't tried it yet, but Simple Green works well on the motor.
I need to cleam my hood insulator as well, but I have a couple of other things to fix before I can get back to the GN.

I would like to hear if anybody has other ideas/solutions.

Patrick

I've cleaned them with SG/409. Take a sponge and soak it in SG and pat the dirt and grime off. Very tedious. Use carb cleaner to get the heavy spots off.

thanks guys,im gonna pull insulater off and spray some kind of cleaner like simple green ,sg/409,or ?(il try a small spot first to test)and then rinse out, then let it air dry.

Mine had some dirt (not oil/grease tho) on it like someone sprayed water from under the fender or something. I took simple green and then windex I think and got the area almost dripping wet and then sucked the moisture out with a shop vac. Didn't drag the nozzle across the liner, just held it up to it one area at a time. After a few times of that, you can hardly tell it was ever dirty.

thats a good method using the vaccum cleaner too.

Just remember that the lettering is just adhesive tape.

I have cleaned an aftermarket insulator (embroidered) with Meguairs All purpose cleaner diluted 10:1. Spray it on, rub it off with a soft terry cloth. That would probably work but don't scrub hard over the lettering
