If I take off and hold the throttle at about 7/8 it will run through all the gears without a miss, although i do get about 7 degrees of knock retard on the Scanmaster right before the 2-3 shift. The boost at this point is about 12lbs. If I go wot I will get 25-30 degrees of Knock retard right before the 2-3 shift and missing so bad that I have to get out of it before it shifts to 3rd gear! This is only at 14lbs of boost on 93 octane and xylene mix with a Caspers thumbwheel chip set on the 2 position. Did the same thing with stock injectors and JC 93 chip. Jst recently went to red stripes. Changed the coil pack with a known good one, new plugs, wires. Haven't tried new ignition module yet but hope to this weekend. This s%%% is driving me crazy. Please help me out!!! Thanks, R.B.
P.S. Fuel pressure set at 43psi and 02's will drop to 750's-730's at the top of 3rd.

Come on guys, help me out. It feels like something electrical. Hasn't anybody ever had something like this?

If the cam sensor is not adjusted properly can it cause a lean condition at wot therefore causing knock? Grasping at straws. Thanks, R.B.

I had this happen before. 2/3 throttle and it would run pretty good, little bit of knock but other wise ok. The second we went WOT, 20+ KR and it sounded terrible. Turned out to be a wiped camshaft. Ran pretty good too. Cyl #3 exhaust lobe was almost gone. Something is going on and I would pull the valve covers and verify full valve travel. If your convinced it's electrical, the MAF would be a good place to start. What is the MAF value at "7/8" throttle and WOT?

Put brand new ignition module in today and got the same results. Then, new knock sensor, same results. Set cam sensor, same results. I also did something that was probably pretty stupid. I unplugged the knock sensor and took it for a wot blast. It ran through all the gears perfectly, no miss no nothing! I'm only running 14 lbs of boost so I didn't figure it would hurt anything. So what exactly does this mean? Can the wire that goes from the knock sensor to the ecm be bad? Thanks, R.B.

Could be MAF dropout. Sure you have your translator set up right?

on on on off. Correct? On a wot blast a few minutes ago I noticed quite a bit of light blueish smoke. Could the seals be going out in the old stock turbo and enough oil is getting into the throttle body to cause a lot of knock???

When the car first gets up to operating temperature and I go wot I don't get any knock. But the 2nd or 3rd time is when I get the big knock ( 25-30 on Scanmaster). Will oil from a leaking turbo that goes into the throttle body somehow lower the octane rating therefore causing knock? Thanks, R.B.

Check the up pipe and throttle body for oil and clean your intercooler out real good and see if that helps. When the seal in my stocker went, I know I was getting knock from all the oil it was sucking, so I would say yes it will cause knock.HTH

Where is the best place to get a new, let's say, ta-49 turbo? Best price and service. If they have a website please post it. Thanks, R.B.

I have a TA60 that has fewer than 500 miles on it I could sale you for five large. I will even install it. If you can leave your car up at my work I will figure it out. Thanks,Randy

I would suggest a 3000 stall convertor. It will work with a stock convertor but you will be lagging. R.B. you need to explore you engine wiring harness for damage with all your past engine movement. I would trace your grounds and make sure they are solid first before throwing any more parts at it. Maybe pull the harmonic balancer for defects and see if it is getting into the sensor. I am not convinced that your turbo is the culprit.
